Everyone’s Favorite Bad Gal Could Be Shaking Up the Fashion Industry, Yet Again.

(People, 2018)

Badgalriri could be at it again in a big way. WWD reported last week that they have confirmed sources that Rihanna has been in communication with Luxury conglomerate LVMH, regarding her being the head of a self named Luxury house, under the LVMH umbrella (pun intended). Neither Rihanna nor the LVMH group have confirmed, but it is said that Rihanna wearing a pair of branded Fenty sunglasses was her way of hinting at what is to come.

These mystery sources have said that the LVMH group has hand picked employees from Louis Vuitton and Celine to work with the pop star turned business mogul, to help develop her new fashion house. So far it is just speculation and no official details have been released, but if this is coming, it is going to be HUGE.

Generally the LVMH group prefers to purchase existing more established fashion houses. The last line they developed was Christian Lacroix, which was sold in 2005, but Rihanna definitely has the name and the star power behind her, and has proven success with Fenty Beauty and Fenty for Puma, and not to mention her 67.1 million Instagram followers. Her style has received notoriety and recognition from the industry when the Council of Fashion Designers of America named her the Style Icon of the Year in 2014. But undoubtedly, the most exciting part of this potential news is what it means for luxury fashion. This partnership would make her the first female designer of color under the largest luxury conglomerate in the world. Not only will her line be glamorous, bad ass, and over the top, but we can count on our bad gal for being inclusive. Fenty beauty made long overdue history by introducing more colors and shades for variance in skin colors. And Savage X Fenty recently rocked NYFW, by showing a lingerie line made in more colors and for curvier body sizes. And I would not expect anything less mold shattering from her own luxury fashion line.

We have long admired Rihanna’s bold taste on the red carpet, and are dying to see it on the catwalk, when she is both the painter and the muse.

In honor of the ‘Pope of Fashion’ here is a look at some of Rihanna’s most iconic red carpet looks over the years.
